Looker Studio reporting for Google Ads, GA4 and CallRail

I build Looker Studio reporting for Google Ads, GA4 and CallRail so you can see spend, leads and cost per lead on one page instead of three logins. It refreshes on its own, and it is built around the questions you actually ask, not a generic template.

Typical turnaround: within a week

100+ accounts managed across the US
5+ years of experience

Sound familiar?

You have to check Google Ads, GA4, and CallRail separately to piece together what happened

Weekly reporting is a manual export-and-paste job, if it happens at all

The numbers in your ad platform don't match the numbers you actually care about

Here's what changes

One dashboard showing spend, leads, and cost per lead, updated automatically

Reporting that updates itself instead of requiring a manual pull every week

A single source of truth you can check in 30 seconds instead of 30 minutes

How it works

01

Connect your data sources

Link Google Ads, GA4, and CallRail (or whatever you use) into one Looker Studio report.

02

Design around your actual questions

Build the layout around what you need to know, not a generic template full of vanity metrics.

03

Automate the refresh

Set it up to update on its own, so it's accurate whenever you check it, not just the day it was built.

Hiring for Looker Studio reporting? Here is what it should actually include

A good Looker Studio dashboard answers one question in under a minute: what did I spend, how many real leads did I get, and what did each one cost? If you are still logging into Google Ads, GA4 and CallRail separately and pasting numbers into a spreadsheet, that is what this replaces. Looker Studio reporting for Google Ads, GA4 and CallRail puts those three sources side by side in one report that updates itself.

Here is what matters under the hood. Looker Studio has built-in connectors for Google Ads and Google Analytics, but CallRail is not one of its native connectors as far as I could find. CallRail data comes in through a third-party partner connector or another route such as a spreadsheet, and some of those are paid subscriptions billed by the vendor, so I tell you that cost before building anything. To combine sources in one chart, Looker Studio blends them using a field they share, such as campaign name, and a single blend supports up to five data sources. That is why consistent campaign naming matters more than a pretty layout.

Be realistic about freshness. Google's documentation says its Google marketing connectors, including Google Ads, refresh on Google's schedule, listed as every 12 hours, so a dashboard is current but not live. Check Google's data freshness page to confirm that has not changed. Heavy GA4 reports can also hit GA4's API quotas, which is one reason I keep dashboards lean instead of cramming in every metric.

The most important thing a dashboard cannot do is fix bad tracking. It displays whatever Google Ads, GA4 and CallRail already collected, so if conversions are double counted or calls are missing, you get wrong numbers in a nicer package. I build the report around your actual leads and cost per lead, make sure the definitions match your tracking, document how each number is calculated, and walk you through reading it so you are not dependent on me.

Who Looker Studio reporting is for, and who does not need it

This fits business owners and marketing managers who run Google Ads and get leads from calls, forms or both, and who spend time every week piecing numbers together from separate platforms. It is especially useful when you work with an agency or freelancer and want your own independent view of spend and leads without asking for a report each month.

You probably do not need it if you only run one channel and the Google Ads interface already tells you what you need. A custom dashboard also will not help while your tracking is broken, so if Google Ads and GA4 disagree for unknown reasons, fix the tracking first and report on it after. And Looker Studio is a good fit for dashboards that update on a schedule, not for second-by-second monitoring or enterprise-scale attribution modeling.

If you want something more elaborate than spend, leads and cost per lead, tell me, and I will say honestly whether Looker Studio is the right tool for it.

Frequently asked questions

What data can Looker Studio pull from Google Ads, GA4 and CallRail?

Looker Studio has native connectors for Google Ads and Google Analytics, so spend, clicks, conversions and GA4 events come in directly. CallRail is not among the native connectors that I could find. Its call data reaches Looker Studio through a third-party partner connector or another route such as a spreadsheet, which I set up with you.

What access do you need to build a Looker Studio dashboard?

Read access to each source is the minimum: your Google Ads account, your GA4 property, and CallRail. The Google account that owns the report must be able to see all three. If a paid CallRail connector is involved, I need to know whose subscription it sits under. My access guides cover how to share each one.

How often does a Looker Studio dashboard update?

On a schedule, not live. Google's documentation lists its Google marketing connectors, including Google Ads, as refreshing every 12 hours, and other connectors have their own settings. A dashboard is accurate whenever you check it, but it can trail the platforms themselves by hours. Verify this in Google's docs if it matters to you.

Why do the dashboard numbers not match Google Ads or GA4?

Usually because each platform counts differently. Google Ads and GA4 use different attribution and timing for conversions, and calls come from a third system. A dashboard shows each source's numbers side by side, it does not force them to agree. I define each metric clearly, and the tracking fixes behind it are what close the gaps.

How is Looker Studio reporting different from GA4 tracking setup?

GA4 tracking setup decides what gets collected: events, conversions and attribution. Looker Studio reporting decides how that data is displayed and combined with Google Ads and CallRail. Reporting only reads what tracking collected, so if the tracking is wrong, a dashboard will show the wrong numbers clearly.

How long does a Looker Studio dashboard take to build?

Most dashboards are done within a week once I have access to your accounts. That covers connecting Google Ads, GA4 and CallRail, designing the layout around your questions, setting the refresh, and a walkthrough of how to read it. A more complicated stack or a paid connector setup can add time.
